CM Punk took on The Big Show in a match at WWE Night of Champions on September 19 2010. This was the only non-title match at the pay-per-view, and one that had been simmering for weeks between the two Smackdown superstars.
CM Punk and The Big Show Feud
CM Punk and The Big Show had been feuding ever since Big Show ripped off CM Punk’s mask on an episode of Smackdown and revealed Punk’s bald head to the world. Punk and the rest of the Straight Edge Society had tried to defeat The Big Show in a three on one handicap match at SummerSlam 2010 but Big Show defeated them. Luke Gallows tried to defeat Big Show in singles matches as well but also failed. It was up to Punk to face Big Show alone.

Punk faked out his hometown crowd by talking about how much he loved Chicago, but then accused its inhabitants of ruining the city and corrupting its politicians, police officers and the White Sox. Punk said he would use his straightedge power to defeat Big Show like David with a slingshot.
The match between CM Punk and The Big Show started off with Punk kicking Big Show in the midsection multiple times, but Big Show headbutted him to the mat. He hit Punk in the gut and tried for a clothesline but Punk ducked. Punk dropkicked Show but Show kicked him in the gut. He shoved his boot in Punk’s face and chopped him in the chest.
Punk fell out of the ring and Show followed him. Punk kicked him in the back and followed with a knee to the face. He landed a splash on Big Show and hoped for a countout but Big Show made it back to the ring just in time. Punk kicked Big Show in the midsection and head but Big Show fought back with hits to Punk’s stomach. Punk landed an elbow drop on Show.
Big Show Defeats CM Punk at Night of Champions 2010
Punk tried for a pin several times but Big Show kept kicking out. Punk nailed Show with a kick and tried another pin but Show kicked out. Punk followed up with knees to Big Show and tried to hit him from the top rope but Big Show tackled him in midair. He hit Punk with his trademark knockout punch and pinned CM Punk for the win.
