Daniel Bryan and The Miz faced off at WWE Night of Champions on September 19 2010 with Miz’s United States Championship on the line. Bryan and Miz hadn’t gotten along since the days of Season One of NXT when Bryan was Miz’s rookie. Miz found fault with everything that Bryan did, and continuously berated him and attacked him.
Bryan later proved his worth when he made The Miz and Alex Riley, Miz’s rookie from Season Two of NXT, tap out to his submission move the LeBell Lock on the Septembeesults-r 13 2010 Raw. He showed his skills earlier as well as when he competed at SummerSlam 2010 in the Team WWE vs. The Nexus Elimination Match. Bryan eliminated Darren Young and Heath Slater from the match.

Daniel Bryan and The Miz began the match with Bryan chasing after Miz, and then the two locking up. Miz got Bryan in a headlock and knocked him to the mat. Bryan tried for the LeBell Lock but Miz scurried out of the ring. When Miz got back in the ring, the two dropkicked each other at the same time. Bryan tried for a pin but Miz quickly kicked out.
Miz worked on Bryan’s arm and stomped and kicked him. He gave Bryan a dropkick and tried for a pin but Bryan kicked out. Miz continued to work on Bryan’s arms and shoulders. Bryan countered into a pin attempt but The Miz kicked out. Alex Riley got some shots in on Bryan’s arms. Miz continued his relentless work on Bryan’s arm. He tried for a pin but Bryan kicked out.
Bryan landed a suicide dive on The Miz. He followed with a dropkick and kept trying for the pin but Miz kept kicking out. They exchanged hits. Bryan got them both on the ring ropes, but Miz knocked Bryan off the ropes. Miz hit Bryan with a clothesline and tried for a pin but Bryan kicked out.

Miz continued to work on Bryan’s arm. He tried for the Skullcrushing Finale but didn’t get the pin. Miz accidentally knocked Alex Riley off of the ring apron when he tried to plow into Bryan, and Bryan tried to capitalize by going for a pin but Miz kicked out. Bryan locked in the LeBell Lock on Miz, and The Miz tapped out, making Daniel Bryan the new United States Champion.
