WWE Raw Results September 20 2010: John Cena vs. The Nexus

On the September 20 2010 WWE Raw, the new WWE Champion Randy Orton opened the show. Sheamus interrupted him and complained that he’d been discriminated against since he became champion. Sheamus said he wouldn’t let Orton keep his title. Orton retorted that Sheamus was pathetic. He threatened to punt him and Sheamus replied that he wasn’t intimidated by Orton.

Michael Cole interrupted and announced that Orton and Sheamus would have a match at the WWE Hell in a Cell pay-per-view on October 3 2010. Sheamus demanded that Orton give him his WWE title back. Orton said he would RKO his grandmother to keep his WWE Championship. He then said if Sheamus wanted his title back he could take it, and tossed it to him. Sheamus caught it and Orton gave him the RKO. He tried to punt him, but Sheamus ran away.

Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre vs. Santino Marella and Vladimir Kozlov

Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre became the new WWE Tag Team Champions at Night of Champions on September 19 2010. In their first title defense they took on Santino Marella and Vladimir Kozlov. Santino grabbed Rhodes’ ankle and Rhodes kicked him. Santino sprang back up but Rhodes knocked him down again. Rhodes tagged in McIntyre and Santino tagged in Kozlov.

Kozlov and McIntyre locked up and Kozlov tagged Santino back in. McIntyre kicked Santino down and went for a pin but Santino kicked out. McIntyre tagged in Rhodes and he stomped and pummeled Santino. He kneed Santino then tagged McIntyre back in. Santino escaped and tagged in Kozlov, who kicked McIntyre down and slammed him. Rhodes distracted Kozlov, allowing McIntyre to give him the Future Shock DDT and pin him for the win.

John Morrison vs. Chris Jericho

John Morrison looked to get revenge on Chris Jericho after Jericho attacked him on the September 13 2010 Raw because Morrison tried to take Jericho’s spot in the Night of Champions Six Pack Challenge match. Morrison pummeled Jericho and Jericho slipped outside the ring. Morrison chased him back inside the ring and hit him with a flying kick. Jericho missed a charge in the corner and fell outside the ring. Morrison sprang over the ropes and landed on Jericho.

Morrison kicked Jericho down in the corner, but Jericho gave Morrison an enzuigiri to the back of the head. Jericho knocked Morrison out of the ring and threw him onto the barricade. Jericho suplexed Morrison back in the ring and followed up with a dropkick. He choked Morrison on the bottom rope and tried for a pin but Morrison countered and got a two count. Jericho clotheslined Morrison and got him in a headlock but he fought out. Jericho chopped Morrison.

Morrison knocked Jericho down with clotheslines and a dropkick but Jericho retaliated with a boot to the face followed by a running bulldog. Jericho got Morrison in the Walls of Jericho but Morrison grabbed the ropes. He tried for the Walls again but Morrison kicked out. Morrison kneed Jericho in the face, landed Starship Pain and pinned Jericho for the win.

Daniel Bryan vs. Edge

The Miz declared that he did not tap out to Daniel Bryan during their match at Night of Champions. He claimed that he was injured and wrestled because he was a true champion. Miz said he tapped out because he had to save himself from potential surgery. He then joined Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler on commentary.

The match between the new U.S. Champion Daniel Bryan vs. Edge started off with Edge pummeling and kicking Bryan. Bryan fought back with hits to the gut. Edge hit him in the back and choked him on the ropes. Edge landed a splash on Bryan and threw him into the barricade. He then threw Bryan back inside the ring. Bryan kicked Edge in the chest but Edge gave him the Edge-O-Matic.

Edge got Bryan in a bearhug but Bryan broke out and tripped him. Bryan took Edge down and tried to get the LeBell Lock in place but Edge wouldn’t let him. Bryan kneed Edge in the face and went for a pin but he kicked out. Edge landed a kick on Bryan. Bryan locked in the LeBell Lock but Alex Riley distracted the referee and Bryan, which allowed Miz to interfere. Edge speared Bryan and pinned him for the win.

The Raw GM announced that he was reversing the decision because The Miz interfered with the match. Thus Daniel Bryan won the match by disqualification. Edge threw a fit and declared that he was sick of the Raw GM and everything else and walked off. The Miz and Alex Riley then attacked Bryan and left him out in the ring.

Other Raw September 20 2010 Matches and Events: Layla vs. Melina, R-Truth and Eve vs. Ted DiBiase and Maryse

Layla defeated Melina in a quick match. R-Truth and Eve defeated Ted DiBiase and Maryse in a mixed tag team match. Chris Jericho promoted his new DVD set Breaking the Code: Behind the Walls of Chris Jericho. Jericho also said that he was close to finding out who the anonymous Raw General Manager was, and would expose, blackmail and extort him.

Jericho said he would demand a title match against the winner of Randy Orton vs. Sheamus at Hell in a Cell. Orton offered to face Jericho next week on Raw, and if Jericho won, Orton would give him a title shot.

Wade Barrett vs. John Cena

Wade Barrett said that since John Cena said he wanted to pick apart Nexus, he should take on the rest of Nexus in a gauntlet match, and if Cena beat them, he could face Barrett. If not, they would come to the ring and beat Cena up.

John Cena vs. Heath Slater

Cena got Slater in a headlock, twisted his arm, kneed him in the gut and slammed him. Slater kicked him and landed a running knee and dropkick. Slater gave Cena a neckbreaker and tried a pin but Cena kicked out. Cena fought back with hits but Slater planted him and tried another pin but Cena kicked out. Cena gave Slater the Attitude Adjustment and pinned him for the win.

John Cena vs. David Otunga, John Cena vs. Michael Tarver

Otunga headbutted Cena in the stomach and suplexed him. He gave Cena another suplex and tried a pin but Cena kicked out. Cena got Otunga in a small package and pinned him for the win. Michael Tarver was next, and he hit Cena with punches and kicks in the corner. Cena kicked Tarver and locked in the STF. Tarver tapped out.

Justin Gabriel was next. Gabriel hit Cena with spinning kicks and knees. Gabriel went for a pin but Cena kicked out. Gabriel continued to dominate until Cena fought back with hits and a dropkick. Gabriel gave Cena a superplex from the top rope. Gabriel hit Cena with a moonsault. Cena suplexed Gabriel and went for the pin but he kicked out. They traded hits and Cena knocked Gabriel down with shoulder blocks. Cena gave Gabriel the Five Knuckle Shuffle and went for an Attitude Adjustment but Nexus stormed the ring.

Cena grabbed a chair and Nexus left. Cena was declared the winner by disqualification. Cena challenged Barrett to face him one on one. Barrett said Cena always claims he will do anything for his fans. Barrett said he would face Cena at Hell in a Cell, and if Cena lost to him, Cena would have to join Nexus. Cena agreed to the challenge. Cena said if he won, Nexus would be done for good. Barrett agreed.
