At WWE Night of Champions on September 19 2010, six wrestlers faced off in a Six Pack Elimination Challenge Match. Edge, Chris Jericho, Wade Barrett, John Cena, Randy Orton and Sheamus all fought for the WWE Championship. As the defending WWE Champion, Sheamus had to fight hard to keep his title.
John Cena vs. Edge vs. Chris Jericho vs. Wade Barrett vs. Randy Orton vs. Sheamus
The Six Pack Elimination Challenge Match began with all six competitors hitting each other. Jericho and Edge worked on Cena while Barrett worked on Orton. Sheamus pulled Orton out of the ring and Orton swung Sheamus into the barricade.
Chris Jericho Eliminated by Randy Orton
Cena clotheslined Orton and Jericho tossed Cena out of the ring. Jericho tried a pin but Orton kicked out. Jericho pummeled and kicked Orton. Jericho and Cena traded hits and Cena nailed Jericho with a running bulldog. Orton gave Jericho the RKO and pinned him for the first elimination of the match.
The rest of the wrestlers ganged up on Wade Barrett. Sheamus and Edge clotheslined him over the top rope. Cena and Orton tossed Edge and Sheamus out of the ring and stared each other down until Barrett got back in the ring. Sheamus and Edge came back in and they all fought each other. Barrett tried to order Edge and Sheamus around but they double-teamed him.
Cena dropkicked Edge, and then Cena and Orton had another staredown. Orton tried for the RKO but Cena moved and tried to get Orton in the STF. Orton and Cena kept trying their signature moves on each other but they both kept getting out of them. Edge and Orton tried to suplex Cena but Barrett pulled them down. Sheamus knocked down Barrett and tried to pin Cena but Cena kicked out.
Sheamus repeatedly hit Cena and went out of the ring to kick Edge and throw Orton into the barricade. Sheamus kneed Cena but Cena fought back with hits. Sheamus recovered and tried for the High Cross but Cena knocked him down. Edge knocked Cena from the top turnbuckle, and he and Sheamus double-teamed Cena by superplexing him. Edge went for a pin but Cena kicked out.
Edge Eliminated by John Cena
Edge and Sheamus went after Barrett and threw him into the barricade. They worked on Orton with a catapulted spear into the corner. They tried the move again but Orton clotheslined them both. Orton gave Edge a scoop slam but Sheamus knocked Orton down. Edge went after Sheamus but Sheamus gave him a backbreaker. He missed a kick and Edge nailed Sheamus with a spear, then did the same to Orton. Cena gave Edge the Attitude Adjustment and pinned him for the second elimination of the night.
John Cena Eliminated by Wade Barrett
Barrett went to work on Cena and went for the Wasteland but Cena struggled out. Cena tried for the Attitude Adjustment but Barrett countered into a DDT. He tried for a pin but Cena kicked out. Cena made a comeback and hit Barrett with the Five Knuckle Shuffle and tried for the Attitude Adjustment but Sheamus knocked him down. Cena got Sheamus in the STF but Sheamus grabbed the rope.
The Nexus came to the ring and distracted Cena, allowing Barrett to give him the Wasteland and pin him for the third elimination of the night. Nexus went to work on Orton and tossed him back to Barrett. Cena and Orton took out Nexus and Orton gave Barrett a backbreaker. He followed up with the RKO to Barrett and pinned him for the fourth elimination.
Randy Orton Wins Six Pack Elimination Challenge Match at Night of Champions 2010
Sheamus hit Orton with the Brogue Kick and went for a pin but Orton kicked out. Sheamus tried the High Cross but Orton struggled out and hit Sheamus with the RKO. Orton pinned Sheamus for the win and became the new WWE Champion.
Chris Jericho Leaving WWE?
Chris Jericho had vowed to leave WWE if he did not win the WWE Championship at Night of Champions. With Jericho being the first eliminated in the Six Pack Elimination Challenge match, he had no chance of winning. Does this mean that Jericho will be gone from the WWE for good?
