Satan’s structure, Hell in a Cell, will return in its very own pay per view once again. And there is no rest for Randy Orton, the new WWE Champion, as he must face the man he beat for the title Sheamus. Can he triumph over the Celtic Warrior once again?
Fresh from his dominant triumph in the Six Pack Challenge at Night of Champions, Randy Orton is already forced to concentrate on his first major pay per view title defence against the previous champion. But they have quite the storied rivalry in 2010 already.
Randy Orton vs. Sheamus at Summerslam
In the build up to Summerslam it seemed very much that Randy Orton had Sheamus’ number. He frequently outsmarted him in the run up to the summer spectacular and made the Irishman look intimidated to say the least.
However when the Summerslam main event finally rolled around Sheamus used the cheapest tactic in the book, getting himself intentionally disqualified, to therefore keep his WWE Title. Randy Orton had the win but remained without the gold around his waist.
Sheamus was adamant that Orton should go to the back of the line as far as title contention went. However unfortunately for Sheamus the Raw General Manager believed otherwise and gave Orton a chance to qualify for the Six Pack Elimination challenge at Night Of Champions. Orton duly obliged and booked his place in the match by beating John Morrison and Ted Dibiase.
Randy Orton Wins WWE Title at Night of Champions
In the run up to Night of Champions Randy Orton was portrayed as the alpha male going into this match and perhaps the favourite. He had the measure of all his opponents including long time rivals Edge and John Cena.
And so in the actual match it came to pass that Orton was able to continue that dominance. And when it came down to just two men remaining it was Sheamus facing The Viper once more. Only this time Orton hit a match winning RKO to claim his sixth WWE Title.
Randy Orton vs. Sheamus at Hell in a Cell
Randy Orton has competed in some vicious Hell in a Cell matches previously and achieved some very good results, therefore history and experience are on his side. He is the WWE’s apex predator and putting him in this sort of environment just makes him even more dangerous.
Sheamus has come up short every time he has faced Orton and does not seem to have the variety in his arsenal to be able to cancel out the versatility of his lethal opponent. Orton has had many title runs before but, and although by no means a clean cut baby face, with this one he has the fans firmly in his corner as his ice cold killer gimmick has really struck a chord with the WWE universe much in the same way Stone Cold Steve Austin and Jake “the Snake” Roberts have in the past.
It is time for another “Age of Orton” – and it seems there is very little that Sheamus can do about it.
